NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley watched a four-point lead slip away as Tioga rallied to defeat the Cardinals, 42-38, here Saturday afternoon.

NV grabbed a 19-18 edge at halftime and led, 27-23, heading into the final frame thanks to 10 points from Jake Armstrong in the second and third periods.

Tioga went in front in the first quarter, 12-9, as Evan Sickler and Gavin Godfrey combined for eight points.

Sickler, who paced Tioga with 14 points on the day, put up eight during the fourth-quarter rally while Ethan Perry and Casey Stoughton contributed one 3-pointer apiece.

Raidyn Ford pumped out nine of his game-high 18 markers in the final period. Armstrong finished the game with a dozen points.

Newark Valley (0-5) hosts unbeaten Owego (6-0) Monday.

Tioga ends its season with a 2-6 record.
