COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY: NEWARK VALLEY GRAD BERGHORN NAMED TO NAZARETH COLLEGE TEAM (2021-02-22)

ROCHESTER — Former Newark Valley standout Marissa Berghorn has been named to the Nazareth College field hockey team.

A forward for the Golden Flyers, the freshman forward was chosen the All-Tioga County Field Hockey “Player of the Year” in 2019 and was was an All-Tioga County forward in 2018.

As a senior, Berghorn scored 19 goals and handed out four assists to lead the Cardinals to a 14-5 record and the Section IV Division 3 title. She ranked first in Section IV in goals scored and was sixth in the state.

The Golden Flyers open the season Sunday at home against Utica.

Their schedule also includes road games at Houghton April 3 and Hartwick April 11, and a home game against St. John Fisher April 18
