CANDOR — Candor used a 23-7 fourth-quarter blitz to rally for a 56-43 win over Tioga here Monday night in IAC boys basketball action.

After the team played to a 7-7 deadlock after the first eight minutes, Tioga’s Casey Stoughton canned a pair of 3-pointers for six points, and Evan Sickler added five points in a 19-11 run that gave the Tigers a 26-18 halftime lead.

Nick Thomas, who was held to just four points in the first half, knocked down a 3-pointer and scored seven points, and Hunter Bates added four points as Candor outscored Tioga, 15-10, to trim the deficit to 36-33 entering the final eight minutes.

In the fourth quarter, Thomas pumped in 10 points, including an 8-for-10 performance from the free-throw ling, and Zach Watson canned a 3-pointer and scored five points to fuel the decisive 23-7 blitz carried the Indians to the victory.

Thomas led Candor with 21 points, while Thayer scored eight points, Haynes and Bryce Mills added seven points apiece, and Watson had five, and Bates chipped in with four.

Stoughton led Tioga with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, while Sickler added 10, and Gavin Godfrey added nine.

Candor, now 1-2, hosts Tioga (0-3) on Thursday.
