NEWARK VALLEY / ELMIRA — John Fiacco came within one pin of a triple-200 day as the Newark Valley boys rallied to split with Edison in IAC virtual bowling Thursday. Meanwhile, Rosie Hines paced the two-person girls team to a shutout win over the Spartans.

BOYS
Fiacco closed out a 632 series with a 233 in his final game and started the match off with a 200. In between, he flirted with another 200, posting a 199.

Vincent Peck contributed bookend 200-plus games, rolling a 212 and a 211. He ended with a 592 series.

John Umiker added a solid 548 series with a high game of 198 to close out the match.

Owen Sailus had a 142-394 and Braden Hines had a 120-340.

After dropping the first two games, 878-824 and 800-778, NV posted an impressive win of 904-791 in the final game to take the total pinfall, 2506-2469.

Brandon Eynon had a pair of 131s for a 390 exhibition series.

GIRLS
Hines improved with each game, finishing off the match with a 164 for a 545 series.

Lily Austin chipped in with a 157-441.

The Cardinal duo scored 288, 314 and 293 to end up with a 895 total pinfall. Edison had 278, 271 and 292 for an 841 total.

Newark Valley faces Waverly in a virtual match Tuesday.
