STAC BOYS SWIMMING & DIVING: GAULT ADDS ANOTHER WIN; OWEGO FALLS TO CV (2021-01-20)

BINGHAMTON — Adam Gault chalked up another victory, but the undermanned Owego boys swimming and diving team fell to 2020 Section IV Class B runner-up Chenango Valley, 96-56, in STAC action on the road Tuesday.

Gault, who won two individual events and a relay in the season opener last week, captured the 500-yard freestyle against the Warriors. HIs time of 5:54.37 was nearly 14 seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer.

The junior placed second in the 50 free in 25.05 seconds and was a runner-up in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. In the 200, he teamed with Gabe Snyder, Christian Hodges and Dominick Mahonski for a time of 2:11.94, and in the 400 he joined Kyle Riegel, Snyder and Hodges, clocking 4:22.29.

Snyder added a second in diving with 152 points and a third in the 100 free (1:03.32).

Hodges was a runner-up in the 200 individual medley (2:52.29) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:37.36).

Riegel was second in the 100 backstroke (1:25.12) and third in the 100 butterfly (1:24.39).

Mahonski placed second in the 200 free relay (2:10.13), joining Nick Angrove, Sam Nowetner and Jacob Krassin. He was also fourth in the 100 free (1:04.52).

Krassin finished second in the 100 breast (1:34.68) and third in the 200 free (2:38.19).

Nowetner took fourth in the 200 free while Angrove was fifth in the 50 and 100 free.

Owego (0-2) hosts Windsor (0-0) at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
