IAC BOWLING: NEWARK VALLEY FALLS TO TIOGA (2021-01-19)

NEWARK VALLEY / WAVERLY — Three Newark Valley bowlers saved their best games for last as the Cardinals' boys grabbed a point from defending IAC Division 2 champion Tioga in a 3-1 virtual match loss.
Meanwhile, the NV girls team continues to bowl short-handed and fell to the Tigers, 4-0.
BOYS
Tioga took the first two games, 835-731 and 805-749, before NV won the final game, 824-761. The Tigers took the total pinfall, 2401-2304.
John Fiacco had a 175, John Umiker a 173 and Braden Hines a 168 in the third game. Umiker finished with a 464 series and Fiacco had a 455.
Vincent Peck was the most consistent of the Cardinal keglers, his games being separated by 17 pins. His high was a 169 and he finished with a team-best 485 series.
Hines added a 439 series, Owen Sailus had a 147-430 and Schuyler Sophie rolled a 162-354.
Tioga was paced by Rocco Fariello, who posted a 669 series. He opened with a 242 and posted a high of 257 in the second game.
Kolton Pond contributed a 185-519 and Gage Cain had a 196-518.
The Tigers improved to 9-3 while NV slipped to 4-8.
GIRLS
Tioga won by game scores of 684-291, 576-263 and 629-331, and took the total pinfall, 1889-885.
Lily Austin closed out the day with an impressive 204 and ended up with a high series of 479, both highs among the ladies.
Rosie Hines added a 153-406.
Jaime Card scored a 182-470 to lead the Tigers.
BobbiJo Tarbox had a 148-420, and Chloe Gillette had a 152-404 for Tioga.
The Tigers are now 8-4. NV is 0-12.
