ON TAP TODAY: TIOGA COUNTY TEAMS CLASH TO OPEN IAC BOWLING SEASON (2021-01-12)

TIOGA COUNTY — Day 1 of the return of interscholastic athletics in Tioga County met with an unfortunate, but not surprising result — postponement. Day 2 should not have the same issue.

Newark Valley will "host" Candor in a virtual IAC match this afternoon, marking the start of the season for both teams.

NV will knock down pins at its hometown house, Cardinal Lanes. Meanwhile, the Indians will travel to Owego Bowl to do their work.

The Candor girls are the defending IAC Division 2 (Small School) champs while the Newark Valley boys squad was runner-up to Waverly in Division 1 (Large Schools).

Meanwhile, D2 boys champ Tioga and the Wolverines face off in a match at Valley Bowling Center. The Waverly girls, D1 runners-up in 2020, also face Tioga. It won't exactly be virtual, but the teams will not be competing side by side.
