OWEGO WRESTLERS CONTINUE TO HONOR THOSE WHO GAVE ALL (2020-05-22)

OWEGO — For the past several years, the Owego-Apalachin wrestling team has helped the VFW place flags in the Evergreen Cemetery at the graves of veterans in honor of Memorial Day.

This year, due to COVID-19, a decision was made that this event would be cancelled. This did not stop juniors Jake Morris and Matt Laubach, both members of the wrestling team, from continuing the tradition in a socially distant safe manner. This week, they were able to obtain flags and went throughout Evergreen Cemetery, replacing many tattered or destroyed flags.

This was something they wanted to do to honor the veterans that served our country.
