MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — Newark Valley grad and SUNY Morrisville junior Anna Raymond garnered several honors for her efforts in basketball and cross country.
The awards were presented Sunday during a virtual ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Raymond was named the Most Valuable Player for the women's cross country team, finishing 12th at the North East Athletic Conference Championships and being named to the NEAC Second Team.
She was also named the school's Most Improved Player, cutting her 6K time from 29:17.13 to 27:29.7 during the season.
A forward on the basketball team, she was also named the school's Comeback Athlete of the Year after returning from an injury to help the Mustangs to a runner-up showing behind powerhouse SUNY Poly in conference play.
Morrisville posted an 8-2 record in the NEAC North Division and was 13-3 in conference play, finishing second to SUNY Poly in both. The Mustangs would also take second in the NEAC tournament, falling to the Wildcats in the championship game, and end the season with a 19-6 overall record.
The Mustangs would also be named the school's Breakthrough Team of the Year.
