COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: NEWARK VALLEY'S STIFFARM TO PLAY AT TC3 (2020-04-18)

NEWARK VALLEY — Jordan Stiffarm will be hitting the court at Tompkins Cortland Community College this fall. The Newark Valley senior will be playing volleyball for the Panthers.

"I have visited the TC3 campus and I love the campus," she said. "Also, the transfer process from TC3 to Cortland is amazing."

Stiffarm hasn't been able to sign a letter of intent due to the NCAA ban on recruiting during the coronavirus pandemic, but hopes to do so.

"I’ve been speaking with coach about everything," she said.

Stiffarm played an integral role in the Cardinals' IAC Large School and IAC South Large School championships efforts this past fall. She was named an IAC South Large School first-team all-star at libero and was selected to the All-Tioga County second team.

"Jordan was an instrumental part of our success program this year," NV coach Kelsey O'Donnell said. "She led the team in digs as our libero with 506, and aces as our most consistent jump server with 86. She is an all around talented player who could be put in any position and be successful. I would even go as far to say that she is the best libero to come through Newark Valley — and will be greatly missed next season.

Stiffarm has known for some time what career field she would like to pursue and has even gained a little insight at NV.

"I want to major in Childhood Education because ever since I was little I have always loved being around kids and during my senior year I helped out with a fifth-grade class and absolutely fell in love with the idea of being an elementary school teacher," she said.
