THE WEEK AHEAD: BASKETBALL HEADLINES THE ACTION (2020-03-02)

TIOGA COUNTY — The winter season is winding down, but there are still three teams remaining which have aspirations of moving on to the state basketball playoffs.

Here's a look at the week ahead.

TUESDAY
The third-seeded Owego (10-9) boys basketball team heads to Norwich to face the 16-4 Purple Tornado in a Class B semifinal. Norwich is ranked 26th in the state and is seeded second.

WEDNESDAY
Unbeaten Newark Valley (21-0), seeded third and ranked fourth in the state, visits neighboring Owego (13-6), which is seeded second and comes in riding a 10-game win streak. The Indians are ranked 21st in the state.

SUNDAY
The Section IV Class B basketball championship games take place at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton. The girls play at 4:45 p.m., followed by the boys at 6 pm.
