COLLEGE WRESTLING: NEWARK VALLEY GRAD RUPERT WINS FIRST TOURNEY (2020-02-24)

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — SUNY Cortland freshman Trentyn Rupert, a Newark Valley grad, garnered first-place honors at 285 pounds at the Muhlenberg Northeast/Mideast Futures Tournament Sunday.

Rupert finished with a 4-0 record to improve to 5-1 on the season. He opened with a 3-0 decision over Muhlenberg's Ramiro Osuna, then followed with a pin of MiAndre Hughes of RIT to reach the semifinals. He defeated junior teammate Zach Herbert, 4-1, then pinned Hunter's Jacob Raboy in 4:35 in the championship match.

The Red Dragons will compete at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals Saturday and Sunday at Ithaca College.
