OWEGO — Owego will have three individuals competing in five events and four quartets entered in three relays at the Section IV Class B Boys Swimming & Diving Championships Saturday following the Indians' efforts in the preliminaries here Wednesday.

Brandon Lavo and Adam Gault will swim in two "A" finals each, which include the top eight placers in each individual event at the prelims. Joe Criscitello will compete in the "B" finals (9th-16th place at prelims). The top eight teams in each relay also advance.

Lavo qualified second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.79 and fourth in the 200 free, clocking 1:56.49. He knocked more just under 12 seconds off his 500 seed time and more than five seconds off his 200 time.

Gault swam to a pair of fifth-place showings. He posted a time of 2:13.66 in the 200 individual medley and a 1:07.36 in the 100 breaststroke. His times were more than nine seconds faster than his seed time in the medley and more than four seconds better in the breast.

Criscitello would finish 13th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:06.83 and trimmed about 2 1/2 seconds off his seed time.

Owego would place fourth in the 400 free relay with Gault, Criscitello, Gabe Snyder and Lavo recording a time of 3:47.53, almost nine seconds quicker than its seed time.

The same foursome would finish sixth in the 200 free relay in 1:41.38, more than 2 1/2 seconds ahead of its seed time.

James Morton, Jacob Krassin, Dominick Mahonski and Austin Tompkins took eighth in the 200 medley relay (2:11.95).

Mahonski, Tyler Krom, Tompkins and Krassin placed eighth in the 200 free relay (1:55.44).

The finals will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Watkins Glen.
