SECTION IV BOYS BOWLING: CANDOR'S FLOYD; NV'S ALEX UMIKER HEADING TO STATE QUALIFIER (2020-02-17)

VESTAL — Just one pin stood between Candor's Kody Floyd and the top series at the Section IV Class D Boys Bowling Championships at Midway Lanes here Saturday.

Floyd posted a 687 series, placing him second behind Hancock's Tyler Allen and his 688 series. He registered the fifth highest series of all classes combined, making him eligible for the state qualifier Friday at the Valley Bowling Center in Waverly. 

He will be heading to the state qualifier Friday at the Valley Bowling Center in Waverly, as will Newark Valley's Alex Umiker. Both competitors carry a 194 average.

Class B
Qwinten Adams and Cole Dalton led the Indians to fourth place. They had a 2751 total pinfall with a high game of 965.

Adams had the sixth best series, a 597, and 10th-highest game, a 211. Dalton's 573 series was No. 11 on the list and his 231 game was fifth best.

Nate Travis shot a 202-556 and Tyler Taft rolled a 201-556. William Waldron added a 180-469.

M-E took the team competition with a 3063 total pinfall.

The Spartans' James Hadfield had the high game (246) and high series (661).

Class C
Newark Valley finished fifth as all five bowlers posted series above 530.

John Fiacco led the way with a 215-571, Alex Umiker tallied a 234-567, Jason Brown recorded a 193-562, Preston Schrader contributed a 191-549 and David Mincher added a 221-532.

Umiker's high game was the seventh best.

Susquehanna Valley won the team title with a 2902 total pinfall.

SV's James Pittsley had the high game (258) and high series (687).

Class D
The Indians finished sixth in Class D with a 2341 total pinfall. Their high game was an 863. Hancock took the team title with a 3006 total pinfall.

Floyd would roll the high game in Class D, a 259.

Matthew Fitch scored a 216-532 for the Indians, his high game being the sixth best. Garrett Lindhorst contributed a 160-473, Carson Howe had a 149-397 and Aiden Jackson added a 92-252.
