SECTION IV GIRLS BOWLING: CANDOR PLACES 3RD IN CLASS D TOURNAMENT; INDIANS TO COMPETE IN STATE QUALIFIER (2020-02-16)

VESTAL — Kaitlyn Floyd, Mya Marsh and Olivia Bennett posted strong efforts to lead Candor to a third-place showing at the Section IV Class D Girls Bowling Championships at Midway Lanes here Friday.

Floyd posted a 601 series, good for second place, on the strength of a 234 high game, which was the third highest game of the day.

Marsh rolled the high game, a 244, which highlighted her 547 series (seventh best).

Bennett's 561 series was good for fifth place and her high game of 215 was sixth best.

Hancock's Brenna Gleim was the top individual kegler with a 673 series and her high game of 238 was second best.

She would lead the Wildcats to the team title as they recorded a 939 high game and 2654 total pinfall. Unadilla Valley was second with an 885-2518 and Candor registered a 928-2429.

As the top IAC Small School team, Marsh (167 average), Bennett (151), Floyd (147), Jenna O'Connell (102), Elisa Hatton (96) and Julia Dunham (95) advance to the state qualifier Friday at the Valley Bowling Center in Waverly.

Class B
Haley Stephens led the Indians to a fourth-place finish with an eighth-place showing. She rolled a 491 series which was bolstered by a 180 game, also eighth best on the day.

Chloe Gillette added a 124-359 and Lillie Carrigan-Bauer had a 121-335.

Victoria Kobylarz contributed a 131 game. Elizabeth and Victoria Reigle chipped in with games of 116 and 109, respectively.

Owego scored an 1846 series with a high game of 637.

M-E won the team title with a 955-2788. 

The Spartans' Gloria Hoffer rolled the high game (231) and high series (631).

Class C
Newark Valley's Lily Austin rolled a 472 series to lead the team. Rosie Hines scored a 440, Kate Maine had a 401 and Emily Van Patten added a 394.

Austin's high game was a 161. Hines shot a 156, Maine a 148 and Van Patten a 147.

The Cardinals, who had a 1707 series, were short one bowler.

Greene / Oxford won the team title with an 883-2631.

Susquehanna Valley's Lindsey Jicha tallied the high series (636) while Maegan Mazzarella of Sidney had the high game (256).
