IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR DRAINS 10 TREYS IN 61-40 WIN OVER O-M (7 PHOTOS) (2020-02-10)

CANDOR — Candor connected for 10 3-pointers on the way to a 61-40 IAC South Small School victory over Odessa-Montour here Monday evening.

Daniel Thomas and Alex Doucett connected for two treys each and scored eight and six points, respectively as Candor opened with a 19-9 advantage through the first eight minutes.

Doucett would knock down two more treys in the second quarter, putting up eight points. Brayden Ferris and Marcus Rypkema scored four apiece as the home team built a 36-16 cushion.

O-M, despite having just five players due to illness, wasn't giving up and outscored Candor, 17-11, in the third period. Jared Rumsey canned a pair of threes, Paden Grover scored six points, and Devon Mahoney added five more for the visitors.

Joey Marsh connected for a trey for Candor, then added another in the fourth quarter. Joey Dougherty tacked on two treys and scored nine points in a 14-7 surge.

Doucett finished the game with 14 points and dished out four assists. Dougherty scored 11 points, Ferris had nine points and 10 rebounds; and Daniel Thomas pitched in with nine points and three assists.

Kolden Foster contributed seven points, seven boards, four steals and three blocks; Marsh had six points; Rypkema had five points; and Nick Thomas handed out six assists and grabbed four steals.

Mahoney led O-M with 14 points and Preston Harris had 10.

Candor (12-6, 9-3) hosts S-VE (8-9, 5-6) tonight.
