IAC BOYS BOWLING: NV'S ALEX UMIKER, CANDOR'S FLOYD LEAD THEIR TEAMS AT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS (2020-02-10)

WAVERLY — Newark Valley's Alex Umiker was one of 11 boys to roll a 600-plus series at the IAC Bowling Championships at the Valley Bowling Center here Saturday.

The Cardinal senior shot a 627, good for sixth place in the individual competition. He posted games of 203 and 248 along the way.

Candor's Kody Floyd edged out out NV's Jason Brown by one pin, 585-584, for 14th place. Floyd's effort included 248 while Brown recorded a 225 and a 202.

NV's Preston Schrader recorded a 201-534 and John Fiacco had a 174-458. Sam Umiker had a 159 game and David Mincher added a 122.

Garrett Lindhorst scored a 193-549 and Carson Howe shot a 192-538 for the Candor. Matthew Fitch added a 208-507 and Aiden Jackson tacked on a 126 game.

Dryden's Eddy Pietrasz dominated the field with an 802 series. Waverly's Zach Vanderpool was third (682) and Tioga's Rocco Fariello placed fourth (660).

Pietrasz had the high game with a 279 and Vanderpool was second with a 277. Floyd's and Alex Umiker's 248s tied for third highest. Brown's 225 was good for 14th.

Waverly captured the team title with a 2942 and Lansing was second with a 2859 in the 13-team event. Union Springs / Port Byron (2825), Dryden (2811) and Groton (2798) rounded out the top five. Tioga (2771) was sixth, NV (2609) was seventh and Candor (2529) was eighth.
