CANDOR — The Candor JV girls basketball team won its second game in a row Tuesday night, 52-30, against visiting Newfield, avenging a 41-29 loss
earlier this season.
After an even 8-8 first quarter, Candor's press, sparked by point guard Addie Aman, helped the Indians pour in 15 points and take a 23-10 advantage into the half. Aman had several steals and assists on the second quarter run including five points on a breakaway layup and a three pointer. Neena Kurtz scored six points on two field goals and two free throws in the frame.
Candor kept up the pressure to begin the third as Cadriana Edwards put in four buckets leading a 19-5 surge. Newfield would take the fourth quarter 15-10. Phillis Schenk, an exchange student from Germany, scored seven of Candor's final points.
Ten Indians found the scoring column. They were led by Kurtz's and Edwards' 10 points each. Aman finished with nine, and Schenk with seven. Lilliana Mills had five, Kara Morse and Serenity Hall had three apiece, Makayla Angel and Alexis Kane had two each, and Brianna Cole made a free throw.
Candor returns to action tonight at Odessa-Montour.
