IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY MAKES IT A BAKER'S DOZEN (2020-01-16)

WHITNEY POINT — Nine players found the scoreboard as unbeaten Newark Valley rolled past Whitney Point, 73-19, in IAC Large School crossover action here Thursday.

The state-ranked Cardinals improved to 13-0 on the season, scoring 22 points in the first quarter and 27 more in the second while holding WP to six points in each period.

Makenna Nechwedowich scored nine points at the start and Bri Beebe had eight, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Beebe tacked on another trey in the second period and went 4-for-4 at the free throw line. That gave her 15 points at the break.

Gracie Gardner added seven points in the second quarter and Allie Wandell drained a pair of threes.

Taylor Benjamin added a three in the third quarter and Kendra Morris nailed the team's eighth and final trey in the fourth.

Beebe and Nechwedowich shared scoring honors with 15 points apiece. Nechwedowich also contributed seven rebounds, four assists, three blocks and three steals, and Beebe came away with three thefts.

Gracie Gardner chipped in with 13 points and a block, and Wandell posted 10 points, six boards and three steals.

Morris scored seven points; Benjamin had five points, fives steals and three assists; Makana Gardner pitched in with three points, six rebounds, six steals and three assists; and Hannah Ferguson and Allison Walker added three and two points, respectively.
