STAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: DOUBLE-DOUBLES FROM DONOVAN, COLEMAN LEAD OWEGO PAST CORNING'S TREYS (2020-01-16)

CORNING — Kaci Donovan and Evee Coleman registered double-doubles to lead Owego past Corning, 72-62, in STAC action here Thursday.

Donovan poured in 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Coleman added 27 points and 11 boards to offset the Hawks' 12 3-pointers.

The Indians bolted out to a 21-7 advantage after one quarter of play, but Corning battled back to close the gap to 39-36 at halftime.

The two teams would keep it close coming out of the locker room with the Hawks inching within 56-54.

Owego outscored its host, 16-8, in the final frame.

In addition to their double-doubles, Donovan also handed out eight assists and snagged two steals while Coleman tacked on four blocks.

Maddie Bennett contributed eight points, three assists, three boards and two steals to the win; Larissa Fisher chipped in with three points, three rebounds and two assists; Katie Shoen added two points, two assists and two rebounds; and Ellie Sherwood had two points and three boards.

Ashley Volpe knocked down five threes and finished with 22 points for the Hawks while Alyssa Dobson drained four treys and totaled 23 points.

Jenna DiNardo contributed 13 points, including three threes, and Samantha Lee and Erin Austin added two points apiece.

Owego (5-6) hosts Binghamton Jan. 24 in the nightcap of a boys-girls doubleheader.
