IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: MARATHON PULLS AWAY FROM NEWARK VALLEY (2020-01-14)

MARATHON — Tenth-ranked Marathon had its offense and defense clicking as it defeated Newark Valley, 61-32 in IAC crossover action here Tuesday.

The Olympians held NV to 12 first-half points while scoring 14 in the first quarter and 19 more in the second.

Andrew Tillotson led the first-quarter charge with eight points while Diego Castellot and Kenyon Depuy scored six points apiece in the second.

Ahead, 33-12, Marathon put the game away with a 22-point third-period barrage. Owen Hoyt nailed a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the quarter.

NV held a 12-6 advantage in the final frame as Raidyn Ford scored a pair of baskets, and Brenton Rosenberg and Ethan Bigelow drained on e three apiece.

Donavin Beebe led NV with 11 points. Ford had six, Caden Bennett added four, Andrew Obregon, Bigelow and Rosenberg had three apiece, and Riley Malone scored two.

Tillotson had a game-high 14, Hoyt scored 13, and Castellot and Depuy added 10 apiece.

Newark Valley hosts Whitney Point Thursday in a game which has been moved up one day.
