LANSING — Kate Maine led the Newark Valley girls to a 4-0 sweep of Lansing here Tuesday while the Cardinal boys earned a 2-2 split.
GIRLS
Both teams were competing short-handed, but the Cardinals got the upper hand. NV won, 479-379, 404-344 and 413-300 and grabbed the total pinfall, 1296-1023.
Maine led the Valley with a 166-465. Lily Austin had a 149-423 and Rosie Hines added a 164-408.
BOYS
The Bobcats would win the first game, 900-864, and the third, 867-858, but NV took game two, 874-789. That helped make up the difference as the Cardinals won the total pinfall, 2596-2556.
Jason Brown paced NV with a 217-574. Alex Umiker rolled a 188-509 and John Fiacco connected for a 179-509. Sam Umiker shot 172-495, Preston Schrader had a 178-481 and John Mincher added a 155-445.
In exhibition bowling, David Mincher had a 192-537 and Donavan Craft had a 153-429.
NV hosts Notre Dame Thursday.
