MORAVIA — Will Zimmer posted a double-double to lead Candor to a 61-54 IAC JV Small School crossover win against Moravia Friday night.

Zimmer scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and also had four steals and a block.

The Indians trailed after a quarter, 19-14, despite eight points from Cooper Thayer and one 3-pointer each by Hunter Haynes and Zach Watson.

Zimmer sparked a 19-5 second-quarter run with seven points and six more from Hunter Bates, giving Candor a 33-24 lead. Bates drained a pair of treys while Zimmer and Hunter Haynes canned one three apiece.

The Blue Devils closed the gap to 43-39 in the third quarter despite six more points from Zimmer.

Watson put up seven points in the final frame as the Indians held Moravia at bay.

Also contributing to the Candor triumph were Watson with 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and a block; Thayer with 13 points, six boards and four blocks; Haynes with eight points, eight boards and seven assists; Bates with eight points, nine boards and three assists; and Lucas Heidl with two points and five rebounds.
