GROTON — The Groton girls team would drop its first game of the season, but rally for a 3-1 IAC Division 2 victory over Candor here Tuesday.
Groton would win the boys match as well, 4-0.
Candor opened the match with a 668-595 victory, but Groton came back to take game two, 641-629. The hosts would pick up a big win in game three, 719-554, enabling them to take the total pinfall, 1955-1851.
Olivia Bennett led Candor (12-4) with a 164-428 while Mya Marsh had a 154-414. Kaitlyn Floyd pitched in with a 143-386. Jenna O'Connell had a 126-320, Julia Dunham had a 107 game and Elisa Hatton added a 101 game.
Division-leading Groton (19-1) was paced by Madison Parker's 169-439 and Emily Carigan's 161.
Groton won by scores of 762-684, 860-736 and 778-768 and took total pinfall, 2400-2188.
Fred Hulbert led the winners, who are now 15 1/2-4 1/2 with a 233-617.
Candor (8-8) was led Kody Floyd, who rolled a 217 and 213 en route to a 596 series. Garrett Lindhorst had a 189-495 and Matt Fitch shot a 163-422, Carson Howe added a 140 game, Aiden Jackson had a 120 and Tyler Dunham had a113.
Candor hosts Edison Thursday.
