LANSING — Newark Valley poured in 30 first-quarter points and ran away from Lansing, 76-23, in IAC Large School crossover action here Tuesday.

The Cardinals led 30-6 following the first eight minutes of play and built a 51-13 cushion at intermission.

Bri Beebe and Makana Gardner pumped out 14 points each to lead the NV offense. Beebe knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the process and also contributed a trio of assists while Gardner had three steals.

Makenna Nechwedowich chalked up a dozen points, grabbed eight rebounds, and also had two steals and a block. Gracie Gardner scored nine points, snagged eight boards and blocked two shots; Hannah Ferguson had nine points, five rebounds and four steals; and Sarah Mertson had eight points.

Elizabeth Ferguson scored six points; Kendra Morris pitched in with three assists, three steals and a block; Taylor Benjamin had two points and three steals; Allison Walker had two points; and Allie Wandell handed out five assists.

The 19th-ranked Cardinals, now 10-0, host Dryden Thursday.
