COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY: OWEGO GRAD BOWERS NAMED TO E8 SECOND TEAM, SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR (2020-01-02)

ROCHESTER — Nazareth College freshman Nate Bowers was named to the Empire 8 Conference men's cross country second team and was also chosen the E8 Sportsman of the Year.

The Owego grad ran a time of 27:41.4 and placed 13th on the St. John Fisher University course Nov. 2 to help the Golden Flyers to second place overall. He was the fourth Nazareth runner to cross the finish line.

Two weeks later, Bowers was the No. 2 Flyer at the finish and 86th overall at the NCAA Atlantic Regional and NCAA Championship qualifier at St. Lawrence University with a time of 26:52.8.

Nazareth, which finished second to Utica College by two points at the conference championships, was the top Empire 8 team, placing 18th out of 47 teams.

Bowers ran his fastest 8K time of 26:37.7 at Houghton's Highlander Invitational Oct. 5.
