COLLEGE SWIMMING: OWEGO GRAD PHELPS EARNS ANOTHER WEEKLY HONOR (2019-12-12)

GENESEO, N.Y. — The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named SUNY Geneseo senior Mitchell Phelps the PrestoSports Men's Swimmer of the Week. 

The Owego grad competed in eight events at the Ithaca Winter Invitational over the weekend, finishing top five in all of them.

Phelps took fifth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:54.30 and fifth in the 200 individual medley, clocking 1:55.25. He placed fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:54.29) and third in the 100 butterfly (50.28).

The senior also swam in four of the Knight relays, all of which finished second. He swam a leg of the 200 medley relay (1:33.00), 400 medley relay (3:27.21), 400 freestyle relay (3:08.74) and the 800 free relay (7:03.49). 

This marks the second time this season Phelps has received the PrestoSports honor.

Geneseo placed second as a team.
