COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OWEGO GRAD GLADNEY NAMED ALL-AMERICAN (2019-12-06)

ITHACA — Owego grad Will Gladney, a senior wide receiver at Ithaca College, has been named a second-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association.

Gladney set school records this season for receiving yards (1,161) and touchdowns (16). He caught 85 passes, which is second all-time and had TD receptions in eight of the Bombers' 11 games.

He tied his own record for TD catches in a single game (3), which he shares with three other players. He has accomplished that feat four times — doing it against St. Vincent, St. John Fisher and St. Lawrence this season. Gladney is also second in single-game receiving yards (236) and receptions (14), and third in all-purpose yards (236).

Gladney is the team's all-time career leader in receptions (258), yards (3,574) and touchdowns (38).

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound end was named to the Liberty League First Team last month, and was selected a Free Agent Football Preseason First-Team All-American and Lindy's Second-Team Preseason All-American prior to the start of the 2019 season.

In 2018, Gladney was named D3football.com First-Team Preseason All-American, earned D3football.com Second-Team All-East Region honors, and was also honored with Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year, Liberty League First-Team All-Conference and was also named Liberty League Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 15 and named to the Liberty League Honor Roll on Sept. 24.

During the 2018 season, he was selected First-Team Liberty-League, D3football.com All-East Region First-Team. and ECAC Second-Team All-Star.

The Bombers went 29-14 during Gladney's career.

At Owego, he was named a first-team all-state end in his senior season.
