ON TAP TODAY: FOOTBALL, GIRLS TENNIS SHARE SPOTLIGHT (2019-10-18)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — Friday night football and girls sectional tennis share the spotlight today.

FOOTBALL
Newark Valley (3-3) at Fulton (4-2), 6:340 p.m.: The Cardinals head to Section III for a non-league adventure.

M-E (4-2, 4-1) at Owego (4-2, 3-2), 7 p.m.: The Indians' "pink out" game to benefit the Traci's Hope charity also features a key Section IV Division II clash. Both teams are legitimate postseason contenders, but a loss would put Owego on the bubble for the Class B playoff spot.

SVEC (1-5, 0-2) at Dryden (3-3, 0-1), 7 p.m.: The Eagles are a longshot to make the Class C playoffs, but could get in via the Section IV point system, and with a win over the Purple Lions and a Dryden loss to WG / OM next week.

Norwich (2-4, 2-3) at Waverly (3-3, 2-3), 7 p.m.: Mathematically, the Wolverines' playoff hopes are still alive although, realistically, the postseason is unlikely.

GIRLS TENNIS
Owego at Section IV Class B tournament (Apalachin), 10 a.m.: Inclement weather postponed the start of the tournament one day. Representing the Indians at Tioga Hills Elementary School will be Grace Riddleberger, Rachael Wood, Larissa Fisher, Rachel Raftis, Julie Selover, Julianna Hessberger and Laura Pawlak.

VOLLEYBALL
Newfield (2-12) at Newark Valley (10-4), 5 p.m. JV start: A victory by NV clinches a tie for first place in the IAC South Large School division.

S-VE (5-10) at Tioga (9-5), 5 p.m. JV start: Both teams are playing for pride as the division title has already been claimed by Candor.
