Tioga County Sports ReportNEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley rolled in the portable lights for Senior Night, then got rolling in the second half to best Waverly, 4-1, in IAC South Large School action here Tuesday.
Ronan Dougherty would give the Cardinals a 1-0 edge on a penalty kick in the game's first minute and that's the way it would stay until the second half.
Nathan Sokol would find his groove after the break, scoring goals in the 45th, 47th and 52nd minutes to record a hat trick.
The Wolverines would avoid a shutout when Brennan Traub scored in the 60th minute.
Newark Valley held a 14-4 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Brandon Randall made four saves for NV and Cameron McIsaac had nine for Waverly.
Newark Valley (8-4) visits SVEC on Thursday.
