IAC VOLLEYBALL: CANDOR SWEEPS TIOGA TO REPEAT AS DIVISION CHAMP (24 PHOTOS) (2019-10-07)

TIOGA CENTER — Candor clinched the IAC South Small School title with a 3-0 sweep of rival Tioga here Monday. The Indians ran their regular-season win streak to 33 matches and improved to 13-0 on the season in repeating as division champs.

However, it wasn't easy as the Tigers pushed Candor to the limit in the first two sets, the Indians winning by identical 25-23 verdicts. Candor found a little breathing room in the third game with a 25-16 victory.

Braelyn Hornick posted a double-double for Candor with 27 assists and 11 points, including two aces, and also had two blocks. Kailyn Edwards had nine points and 10 digs; Jennah Kareem contributed nine kills and 11 digs; Shelby Swartz had nine kills and two blocks; Asia Curkendall had 11 digs and one assist, Megan Henry helped out with six points and eight kills; and Selah Ray added a pair of blocks.

For Tioga, Chloe Bellis had two points, 15 assists, four kills and a block; Kaitlyn Perry had nine digs and six assists; Julia Bellis chipped in with 14 digs and two kills; Madison Macumber had four assists, four digs and two kills; Bri Rossi contributed 18 assists; Emme Hall had 12 kills, four points and three blocks; Molly Bombard had three points and seven digs; and Giovanna Rossi added six digs, five kills, and two blocks.

Candor hosts Odessa-Monour Wednesday.
