DRYDEN, N.Y. — Jonny Sherwood crossed the finish line first and three other Newark Valley runners placed in the top 10 as the Cardinals won the five-team Dryden meet Tuesday.
Sherwood completed the course in 17:31 to defeat Waverly's Collin Wright, who was the runner-up in 17:46.4.
NV'S Seth Hartenstein was sixth in 18:48.8, Connor Yetter placed seventh with a time of 18:52.9 and Mark Vosburgh took ninth in 19:12.7. Patrick Bishop rounded out the team scoring, clocking 20:42.5 to finish 18th.
NV won the team title with 41 points to top Waverly's 46. Dryden had 58, Lansing 70 and Whitney Point was incomplete.
Also competing for the Cardinals were Noah Waterman (19th, 21:02.5), Jake Ludwig (20th, 21:04.2), Tim Bishop (28th, 22:23.3), John Fiacco (29th, 22:40.1), Aden Hollenbeck (33rd, 22:55.7), Anvil Illsley (34th, 22:58.6 ), Montana Wallace (42nd, 24:02.8), Brody Hines (54th, 32:33.2), Jason Knight (55th, 34:31.4).
Renee Riegel led NV, placing seventh with a time of 23:13.2.
Sarah Raymond was 13th in 27:15.2, Monica Escalante finished 15th, clocking 28:21.8, and Breanna Brigham and Charlotte Dunn were 19th and 20th, respectively. Brigham posted a time of 30:08.6 and Dunn had a 30:08.9.
Waverly's Sheridan Talada won the race with a time of 20:09.6.
Lansing was the top team with 36 points, followed by Waverly with 47, Dryden with 55 and NV with 72. Whitney Point was incomplete.
Newark Valley will host the IAC South division meet Tuesday.
