Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — It's Football Friday, but only one Tioga County team has a home game tonight. Two others are on the road, however.
FOOTBALLVestal (0-2, 0-2 Div. I) at Owego (1-1, 1-1 Div. II), 7 p.m.: The Golden Bears are the defending Section IV Class A champions. The Indians' defense and special teams carried them past Norwich last week.
Tioga (2-0, 0-0 Div. VI) at Bainbridge-Guilford (0-2, 0-0, Div. V), 7 p.m.: The Tigers have won two hard-fought battles, so they should be well prepared for a struggling B-G team.
Waverly (2-0, 1-0 Div. II) at M-E (1-1, 1-0 Div. II), 7 p.m.: The undefeated Wolverines are a bit of surprise, but will get their first true test in the Spartans, which doesn't start a season with a loss very often.
FIELD HOCKEYNewark Valley (3-1) at Marathon (6-1), 4:30 p.m.: The Cardinals are coming off an impressive win over Tioga while the Olympians nipped Owego for their fifth straight victory.
Owego (1-6) at SVEC (2-3), 7 p.m.: They're meeting for the second time this week. The Eagles won Monday's clash, 2-1.
GIRLS SOCCERO-M (3-4) at SVEC (3-3), 4:30 p.m.: The Indians have shut out two of their last three opponents while two of the Eagles' losses have come against state-ranked foes.
GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVINGOwego (2-0) at Vestal (1-1), 5:30 p.m.: The Indians look to stay unbeaten.
GIRLS TENNISJohnson City (1-6) at Owego (2-5), 4 p.m.: The Indians won their previous meeting, 5-1.
VOLLEYBALLOwego (4-1) at Corning, 6 p.m. JV start: The Indians are 1-1 against the western side of Section IV.
