IAC CROSS COUNTRY: SVEC'S AVERY WINS 2ND RACE IN 8 DAYS (9 PHOTOS) (2019-09-17)

WAVERLY — SVEC's Callum Avery won his second IAC meet in eight days, topping the boys field at Tomasso's Golf Course here Tuesday.

Avery ran the 5K course in 15:42.9, outdistancing host Waverly's Collin Wright by 17 seconds.

BOYS
Waverly was the top team with 31 points, followed by Dryden with 45, SVEC with 58 and Marathon with 101.

Ryan Hodges placed 11th for the Eagles in 18:33.8. Tyler Doster and Ryan Gillette placed 14th and 15ht, respectively. Doster posted a time of 18:47.6 and Gillette clocked 18:59. Ben Dizer closed out the scoring with a time of 19:45.8, good for 19th place.

Other competitors for SVEC were Isaac Lindridge (22nd, 20:05.5), Wyatt Stouffer (23rd, 20:12.4), Matthew Fitch (24th, 20:26.7), Cameron Squire (26th, 20:37.9), Luke Simonton (40th, 27:51.2), Josh Mentor (41st, 27:51.5) and Liam Hiaman (42nd, 27:51.7).

GIRLS
There were only two full teams with Waverly scoring 22 points to Dryden's  34.

Jenna O'Connell led SVEC, placing seventh with a time of 22:02.6. Mya Marsh was 10th in 23:31.1 and Olivia Secondo took 12th with a 24:42.5. Olivia Bennett finished 20th in 27:42.7.

The Wolverines' Sheridan Talada won the girls race with a time of 18:12.5, besting Dryden's Emily Miller by more than 33 seconds.

MODIFIED
The Eagles' Johnathan Garrison was victorious in the boys race, posting a time of 8:48.9. Brian Belanger was seventh in 10:36.3, Caden Rueben took ninth with a 10:45.1 and Adon Bostwick was 17th in 15:29.

Waverly had the only full team.

There were no full teams in the girls race.

SVEC's Emma Haynes finished third, clocking 11:37.6. Arianna Farmer was fifth in 12:34, Jackie Brown took sixth in 12:51.7 and Julia Dunham was seventh with a 13:31.
