OWEGO — Owego collected its fourth straight victory Tuesday evening, sweeping a solid Vestal team, 3-0.

The Golden Bears, who suffered their first loss of the season Monday, 3-1, against defending STAC champion Windsor, hung around for a bit in the first game before dropping a 25-19 decision. The Indians would step up their game in the second and third sets, winning 25-10 and 25-15.

"I think that we're starting to turn a corner," said Owego head coach Brittney Race. "I think that we're starting to flow, we're starting to move a little better and taking care of the ball, which we weren't early on. Now I really feel like we're heading in the right direction and playing pretty well."

The Indians received multiple contributions on the court, which will be the key to success, according to Race.

"I knew that about this team," she said. "I knew that if this team was going to be successful it was going to have to be a whole-team thing. It really wasn't going to be a one- or two-man show. It really needed to be every single person on, off the court, no matter when they were in, and that's going to be the nature of this team and as long as these guys sustain that these guys are going to do really well."

Mackenzie Struble and Camryn Kopalek handed out 11 assists apiece. Struble also contributed seven kills, six aces, three digs and two blocks. Kopalek added three kills, two blocks and a dig.

Sara Zepkowski had six kills, two blocks and an ace; Annika Kinney contributed 14 digs, two kills, two aces and a block; Taylor Aubel had five kills, a block and a dig; Emma Howe had four kills and a dig; Bianca DeVita chipped in with 17 digs, two assists, a kill and an ace; Haleigh Whatley had four blocks; Macey Gibson had three digs; and Mia Puglisi and Maddy Powell added one dig each.
