Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA CENTER — SVEC scored four goals in the second half, including three by Madelynn Pasto, in a 5-1 win over Tioga here Tuesday afternoon in IAC South Small School Division girls soccer action.

Pasto scored an unassisted goal in the fifth minute of the game, and the game remained at 1-0 for the remainder of the first half.

“It’s the second game in a row we were down 1-0 at the half, then we hit a lull early in the second half, and the opponents scored three unanswered goals,” said Tioga coach Jim Walsh. “That’s fatigue hitting our now 11-player roster.

“(SVEC’s) senior-forward combination (Madelynn Pasto and Ava Bruehwiler) started connecting down low — they accounted for for 100 percent of SVEC’s scoring,” he added.

Two minutes after the intermission, Ava Bruehwiler scored off a feed from Pasto to make it 2-0.

About five minutes later, Pasto re-directed a cross from Bruehwiler past Tioga keeper Gabrielle Foley to make it 3-0.

In the 52nd minute, senior Jocelyn Bradley hit a high, looping shot over the head of SVEC keeper Savanna Tuttle to trim the deficit to 3-1.

A minute later, Pasto, off a feed from Bruehwiler, completed her hat trick to up the SVEC lead to 4-1.

Pasto, who scored 10 goals in two games against Tioga this season, tacked on an insurance goal with 21:24 remaining in the contest to provide the final margin.

SVEC had a 16-11 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

“Offensively, we are getting shots at goal, we just need to work on more combination play, and harder strikes at the ball to find the back of the net,” said Walsh.

Foley recorded 11 saves in net for the Lady Tigers, while Tuttle had 10 saves for the Lady Eagles.

Tioga, now 1-3, returns to action Monday when it hosts Groton, while SVEC (3-1) hosts Newfield Friday.
