STAC VOLLEYBALL: OWEGO FINISHES IN TOP 4 AT BURNT HILLS INVITATIONAL (2019-09-07)
Tioga County Sports ReportBURNT HILLS, N.Y. — Owego competed in the Burnt Hills Harold Van Eaden Tournament Saturday.
The Indians placed second in pool play, going 4-2 with both losses coming to Niskayuna, a C lasss AA team out of Section II.
Owego advanced to the Gold round and defeated Class AA Smithtown East from Long Island, 25-23, 25-15.
In the semifinals, the Indians would fall to Section III power Baldwinsville, currently ranked fifth in the state in Class AA by MaxPreps.com, in three sets to place in the top four overall.
"We played the volleyball I knew we could play in our quarter and semi matches," said Owego head coach Brittney Race. "We finally started clicking."
Owego returns to STAC action Tuesday at home against Johnson City.
