SECTION IV FOOTBALL: SVEC'S CHAFFEE HOPES TO BE COMPETITIVE IN CLASS C (2019-08-10)

BY TIM TAYLOR
Tioga County Sports Report
SPENCER / CANDOR — SVEC was Section IV’s hard-luck team in 2018. The Eagles went 3-5, but four of their losses were by eight points or less.

Head coach Mike Chaffee’s debut season may not have been asa prosperous as he has hoped, but during the season he discovered he has a quarterback who can throw the ball.

Following are Chaffee’s thoughts on a few topics about the upcoming season.

Do you like the way your schedule is set up this season?
“I like the way our schedule is set up this year. Geographically the two divisions make sense. We start out with some tough out-of-division games with Sidney, SV and Walton. I think they will prepare us for our division games down the stretch against NV, OM / WG and Dryden. “

What do you think of the changes to Class C?
“It’s unfortunate to lose Waverly and Edison but Windsor is a nice addition. They are a well-respected program and will bring a lot to Class C. “

Are there any rule changes that affect your program?
“I don’t believe there are any rule changes this year that will affect us.”
