HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Owego graduate Devon McFadden has been named the head swimming coach at Juniata College.

A record-setting swimmer for both the Indians and at Division I St. Bonaventure University, McFadden brings several years of coaching experience to the Eagles' program.

She spent three years as the assistant swim coach and assistant camp director with the Greater Owego swim team. Her role included assisting in the management and operation of swimming camps for youths ages 12-20. She instructed the athletes on stroke technique, drills and rules of the sport as well as overseeing and maintaining their safety.

Competitively, McFadden swam on the varsity team for six years at Owego and was a member of five Section IV championship teams. She qualified for the state championship meet in each of those seasons and was the school record holder in six different events. She also set records in several pools around the section.

As a Bonnie, McFadden established school record in the 100 back and 200 backstroke, the 200 individual medley, the 200 and 400 medley relay and the 400 free relay.

She was a five-time St. Bonaventure Athlete of the Week, named team MVP twice and was the team caption in her junior and senior seasons. McFadden was also named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

A National Honor Society member at Owego and an A-10 Academic All-Conference selection, she was also named a scholar All-American by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association.
