YOUTH BASEBALL: OWEGO SPLITS WITH TIOGA COUNTY FOES AT WEST ELMIRA 8U TOURNAMENT (2019-07-19)

ELMIRA — Owego split a pair of games against Tioga County foes at the West Elmira 8U Tournament.
On Monday, Owego defeated Nichols-Tioga, 18-7. They were unable to muster up enough runs to get past Waverly in a 14-9 setback Thursday.
Owego 18, Nichols-Tioga 7Owego broke open a 1-1 game with five runs in the top of the second inning, then created some breathing room with five more in the third. They built an 18-6 advantage heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Jeremiah Wheeler paced Owego with three hits, two of them home runs, as well as three runs and five RBI. Ben Harvey chipped in with three hits, including a homer and triple, four runs and an RBI.
Evan Canfield had a homer and a triple, two runs and three RBI; and Rocco Canfield contributed a triple, double, one run and an RBI.
Joram Belokur had a hit and three runs; Lincoln Miller added a hit two runs and an RBI; Robert Jackson, William Pellicano and Tobin Reynolds had a hit and a run apiece; Jagger Chrysler and Colby Cordero each had a hit and an RBI; and Harrison Miller drove in one run.
Cordero pitched all six innings, giving up six earned runs on 12 hits and three walks. He struck out nine.
For N-T, Liamm Comstock had three hits, one a triple, two runs and two RBI while Maison Fisher and Parker Jackson had had two hits and one run each. One of Jackson's hits was a double.
Colin Wilson had a triple, two runs and two RBI; Jimmy Burrowes and Eli Gage both had a hit and RBI; Kate Kithcart added a hit and a run; and Jaxon Bidwell had a hit.
Waverly 14, Owego 9
Waverly built a 10-2 cushion after 2 1/2 innings and was ahead 18-9 when the game was called in the top of the sixth due to darkness. The four runs they scored in the sixth did not count (per Little League rules) as the inning was never completed.
Cooper Hugo had three hits and four runs for Waverly, and Axel Murray had three hits and three runs. Brody Lambert contributed two hits and three runs, and Brayden Bowman had two hits and two runs.
Avery Bowman had a hit and two runs, Jax Myers had two hits and a run; Levi Kraft and Kenson Hugo each had a hit and a run; Maddex Presher and Cooper Skovira had two hits apiece; and Leland Stark scored a run.
Harvey and Jeremiah Wheeler led Owego at the plate. Each of them contributed two hits and two runs.
Rocco Canfield had two hits and a run, and Evan Canfield had two hits.
Reynolds, Belokur, Lincoln Miller and Codero added one hit and one run apiece, and Pellicano chipped in with a hit.
