OWEGO — Owego (Bensley) rode five extra-base hits and a dozen strikeouts to a five-inning, 13-3 win over Johnson City (Heslin) in B Division bracket play at the Owego Little League 12U Tournament here Wednesday.
Evan English provided two of the extra-base hits, including a two-run home run that brought the game to a close. He also had a double as he went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Matt Higgins and Dominick Ottaviani contributed multiple hits as well. Higgins went 2-for-2 with a run and two RBI, and Ottaviani was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI.
Kam Wicklund went 1-for-2 with three runs and an RBI; Joe Palladino was 1-for-2 with a double, run and RBI; Elijah Lewis was 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI; Jake Bensley went 1-for-1 with a double and a run; Mason Grippen was 1-for-3 with a run and RBI; and Brendan Schofield had a run and RBI.
Higgins fanned 12 batters, surrendering just three hits and two walks.
Owego scored two runs in the first, fourth and fifth, and another in the second, but the third inning produced a six-run surge.
Doubles by English, Lewis, Bensley and Palladino highlighted the uprising.
Owego faces the winner of Vestal (Carlton) and M-E (Chesna) Saturday at 1 p.m. on Raftis Field (Field 2).
