OWEGO — Owego (Beyer) overcame a shaky start to defeat U-E (Fellows), 14-4, in four innings in Owego Little League 12U Tournament pool play action Saturday.
U-E plated two runs in the top of the first inning on a walk, triple, then three more walks.
Owego would get a run back in the bottom of the inning on singles by Noah Christ and Sam Sherwood, then take the lead briefly in the second. Parker Jenkins and Jack Buchsbaum singled, then Devin Card plated both with a two-out double.
U-E came back to knot the score at three in the third on three walks and an error, but Owego retaliated in its half of the inning.
Matthew Lewis singled and Chris Ward walked, then Adam Llewellyn delivered an RBI single and Tyler Lewis smacked an RBI double as Owego took a 6-3 lead.
The flood gates opened in the fourth as Owego ended the game with an eight-run uprising. Jenkins singled, Jamie Harrison had an RBI single, and Zach Hammond and Card walked. Christ lit up the scoreboard with a three-run home run, Llewellyn and Tyler Lewis singled, and Sam Sherwood ended the game with an RBI triple.
Owego pounded out 15 hits with Christ collecting two hits, two runs and three RBI. Llewellyn had two hits, two runs and an RBI; Tyler Lewis contributed two hits, a run and an RBI; Sherwood added two hits and two RBI; and Jenkins had two hits and two runs.
Card had a hit, run and two RBI; and Ward had a hit, two runs and an RBI. Harrison chipped in with a hit, run and RBI; Buchsbaum and Matthew Lewis both had a hit and a run; and Hammond scored a run.
Four players shared the pitching duties for Owego.
