YOUTH BASEBALL: OWEGO-BENSLEY CONTINUES TO ROLL AT M-E TOURNEY (2019-06-28)

ENDICOTT — Owego-Bensley rode a seven-run third inning to a 14-8 victory over Oneonta in the Maine-Endwell 12B Tournament Thursday.

Joe Palladino, Dominick Ottaviani and Matt Higgins connected for doubles to highlight the big inning.

Palladino paced the Owego bats, which pounded out 13 hits, with five RBI and a trio of runs as he went 3-for-3. He also had a triple.

Elijah Lewis went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI; Nick Brown went 2-for-2 with a double and a run; and Evan English was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI. 

Kam Wicklund was 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI; Zack Bensley went 1-for-2 with a run, Higgins was 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI; and Ottaviani was 1-for-3 with a run and RBI. Brendan Schofield drove in a run and Connor Kotski scored a run.

Schofield pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks with one strikeout. Lewis allowed four runs on four hits and five walks over 4 1/3 innings, fanning five.

Tuesday
Owego 11, LCVL CV 1

A pair of five-run innings led to Owego's five-inning win.

Schofield was 3-for-4 with a home run, triple, double, three runs and four RBI; English was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs; and Ottaviani went 3-for-3 with a homer, double, a run and three RBI.

Zack Bensley was 1-for-1 with an RBI; Jake Bensley went 1-for-2 with a run; Elijah Lewis was 1-for-2 with a run; Palladino was 1-for-2 with a triple and RBI; Higgins went 1-for-3 with two runs; and Wicklund added a run.

Higgins went the distance on the hill, scattering four hits and one walk while striking out 11. LCVL's run was unearned.

Monday
Owego 6, Binghamton 2
Owego scored all of its run in the top of the third.

Schofield went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs; and Higgins was 2-for-3 with a run. English had a hit, run and two RBI; Ottaviani was 1-for-2 with a run; Zack Bensley was 1-for-1; Palladino was 1-for-2; and Wicklund added a run.

Mason Grippen picked up the win, giving up one earned run in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out five, gave up three hitsand walked four. Kotski threw 1 2/3 innings of hitless ball with one strikeout and one walk.
