Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — The post season is in high gear as boys lacrosse and the diamond stars take the spotlight today.
The game of the day is the Section IV Class C Boys Lacrosse Championship, pitting Owego (9-6) against defending champion Johnson City (9-8). The two teams split during the regular season.
First face-off is at 7:30 p.m. at Christy J. Valvo Stadium.
Owego is also hosting the Class D title game at 5 p.m.
BASEBALL
Section IV Class B Quarterfinals
Waverly (14-6) at Owego (6-12), 2:15 p.m.: The big game involves two Tioga County teams squaring off in the Class B baseball tournament.
The Indians closed out the regular season by winning two of their final three games after snapping an eight-game skid.
The Wolverines are coming off an exciting IAC championship game win over highly-touted Edison.
Section IV Class C First Round
Harpursville (10-6) at Newark Valley (7-7), 5 p.m.: The Hornets are coming off a stunning upset of Sidney in the MAC championship game. Meanwhile, NV will be looking for one more up to an up-and-down season.
OTHER GAMES
Tioga fans can run back and forth between the baseball and softball fields as their Tigers host Groton in Section IV Class C openers at 4:30 p.m.
