IAC TRACK & FIELD: SEVERAL NEWARK VALLEY ATHLETES SHINE AT LEAGUE MEET (15 PHOTOS) (2019-05-17)
Tioga County Sports ReportTRUMANSBURG, N.Y. — Newark Valley recorded several high-placing performances on the second day of the IAC Track & Field Championships here Friday, competing in the Large School division.
Sophie Stewart was the runner-up in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.43.
Leah Williams finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 34-5 1/4.
Marissa Silba ran a time of 11:16.79 in the 3,000, good for fifth place, and also placed sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:14.06.
Madison Sherwood was fifth in the 200, clocking 27.54 seconds.
The 4x400 relay of Maris Aylesworth, Sherwood, Stewart and Leah Williams claimed second-place honors, clocking 4:16.98.
The 4x100 relay of Sherwood, Kathryn Simmons, Kayla Malarkey and Williams placed third with a time of 54.46 seconds.
Kylee Carrier was third in the shot put with a heave of 30-6.
Malarkey took fourth in the high jump at 4-6.
Caden Bennett finished second in the 200 with a time of 23.65 seconds.
Micah Williams placed second in the triple jump, leaping 41-10.
Kyle Pratt threw the discus 106-7 to take third place.
Gregor Geisenhof finished fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:05.75.
Jonny Sherwood took fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:07.69 and also placed fifth in the 3200 with a time of 10:27.74.
Derrick Kalpokas took fifth in the pole vault at 10-6.
Lucas Frank was sixth in the discus at 94-9.
The 4x100 relay of Bennett, Dan Cowulich, Raidyn Ford and Micah Williams came in second, posting a time of 45.77 seconds.
The 4x400 relay of Micah Williams, Dan Cowulich, Steve Cowulich and John Boldis took fourth in 3:45.91.
