OWEGO — U-E parlayed a single and a double into a run in the top of the seventh inning to edge Owego, 2-1, here Friday.

The Tigers’ Tatym Pott singled with one away and another out later, Taylor Mischler drove her in with a double.

U-E pitcher Amanda KIser surrendered a walk and a hit in the bottom of the inning, but was bailed out by her defense with Jordan Greeno in scoring position.

The visitors scored the game’s initial run in the first after Abby Madigan reached on an error and scored on a double by Gaby Evans.

Owego responded in its half of the inning when Emma Howe reached on an error and scored on an Emma Stephenson double.

The Indians had an opportunity to score in the second when Chelsea Sellars doubled and Summer Pierce singled, but both runners were left stranded in scoring position.

Owego left two more stranded in scoring position in the sixth as Abby Shirley singled and Taylor Aubel reached on an error, but were unable to reach home.

U-E threatened to score in the fourth, loading the bases on a single, error and walk with two gone, but Sellars struck out the next batter to end the threat.

Howe went 2-for-4 to lead the Indians at the plate. Shirley, Sellars and Pierce all went 1-for-3, and Stephenson added a hit.

Sellars scattered five hits while walking one and striking out four.
