Tioga County Sports ReportNEWARK VALLEY — Tioga’s Derek Gage and Thomas Cook combined to no-hit Newark Valley, 3-0, here Thursday.
The Cardinals managed just four base runners, all via walks. Evan Powell was the lone NV player to advance past first Base, stealing second to start the bottom of the fourth. He would get stranded at third.
NV pitcher Mikey Wandell held the Tigers in check until the fifth, when they pushed a pair of runs across.
Ethan Agan singled, stole second and scored, and Pierce Hendershot doubled, stole third and scored for a 2-0 lead.
Mason Booser added the third Tioga run in the seventh with help from a dropped third strike and a pair of stolen bases.
Wandell struck out 11, and surrendered four hits and three walks.
Gage and Cook posted nine strikeouts.
Hendershot, Gage, Brady Worthing and Agan had one hit each for Tioga.
