IAC SOFTBALL: CANDOR RACKS UP ANOTHER ROUT (2019-05-01)

CANDOR — Three games in a row, three games with double-digit runs. Candor won its third game in three days in blowout fashion, rolling to n 18-2 IAC Division 1 victory over Southern Cayuga here Wednesday.

The Indians would give up a run in the top of the first inning, then take over. Jenna Kareem would plate Addie Aman and Shelby Swartz with a double, then score on Kailyn Edwards’ two-run single for what would prove to be the game-winning run. Aman had led off with a base hit and Swartz reached on an error. Searra Allen also reached on an error following Kareem’s hit. Aryan Peter also hit safely in the inning.

The flood gates opened in the third inning as Candor sent 19 batters to the plate. Emily Henry stepped to the dish three times and came away with two walks and two runs. Edwards had a walk, hit and two runs; Aryan Peters had two walks and two runs; Megan Henry contributed a hit, walk, two runs and three RBI; Arianna Aman had a run, Jen Hopkins had a walk, run and RBI; Addie Aman added a double, walk, two runs and an RBI; Swartz had a sacrifice fly and RBI; Kareem had a hit, run and RBI; Anna Greeno drove in a run; Allen belted a two-run home run; and Asia Curkendall had an RBI single.

The Chiefs would get their other run in the fifth as Swartz stifled them with a two-hitter. She struck out five, walked three and hit one batter.

Edwards went 3-for-3 on the day with two runs and two RBI; Kareem was 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBI; and Addie Aman was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI. Allen contributed a hit, two runs and two RBI; Megan Henry had a hit, two runs and three RBI; Peters had a hit and two runs; Swartz had a run and RBI; Curkendall had a hit and RBI; Emily Henry scored two runs; Greeno had an RBI; Arianna Aman had a run, and Hopkins had a run.

Candor (10-2) visits Groton Friday.
