NEWARK VALLEY — April Simmons registered two hits, two runs and two RBI in the same inning to highlight Newark Valley’s 19-4, five-inning romp over Watkins Glen here Wednesday.

The Cardinals rolled up 11 runs in the second inning to break the IAC Division 3 game wide open. Allie Wandell added two runs on a double and a walk, and Allison Walker scored twice after drawing a pair of walks.

Sarah Mertson and Emma Graves singled and scored, and Marissa Berghorn, Cassidy Hoffmier and Jordan Stiffarm walked and scored in the inning to give NV a 13-0 cushion.  NV sent 16 batters to the plate.

The Cardinals opened the game with a pair of first-inning runs as Simmons and Berghorn singled and scored.

NV extended its advantage to 19-0 in the third, sending 12 batters to the dish. Emma Graves doubled and scored, Berghorn smacked a two-run single and scored, and Wandell doubled and scored. Walker, Stiffarm and Simmons singled and scored.

The Senecas would combine a pair of hits with a walk and two error to score all their runs in the fifth
