VESTAL — Owego rallied from two runs down to force extra innings, but dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker to Vestal here Thursday.

The Golden Bears took advantage of two errors in the bottom of the eighth inning to turn back the Indians.

Emma Stevenson and Grace Thomas singled in the top of the first and Miki Worzel drove Stevenson in for the game’s initial run.

Vestal came back with a pair of runs following g a walk and an error in the second, then pushed its lead to 3-1 in the third on three consecutive singles.

Owego bounced back in the fifth as Summer Pierce smacked a double, Emma Howe hit a single and Stevenson plated both base runners with a double.

Stevenson had a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-4, while Pierce went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles. Thomas went 2-for-4, and Howe, Worzel and Abby Shirley added one hit apiece.

Chelsea Sellars pitched the first four innings for the Indians, giving up six hits and two walks. Taylor Aubel threw the final four, walking three.

Owego hosts M-E at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
